Many visitors to Pawleys Island and Litchfield Beach are not aware that nesting momma turtles and hatchlings can become trapped in holes or tangled in beach chairs or other items left on the beach overnight. Please get the word out to fill in holes and bring in ALL items from the beach overnight. And lights out for sea turtles …porch lights can cause hatchlings to become disoriented at night and not make it out to the ocean. Thank you! 🙂
p.s. if you are fortunate enough to see nesting mommas, please let them do their thing. If they become scared they will return to the ocean and dump their eggs, and all will be lost. 😦 They will be here soon and throughout the summer. You might even see the baby loggerhead hatchings later in the summer and into the fall! They are pure magic and will touch your heart.
